'Fair Canada' is the first of six patriotic pieces featured in poet/publisher John Imrie's Sacred Songs, Sonnets, and Miscellaneous Poems (Toronto: Imrie & Graham, 1886).
It's sure to raise the ire of Ezra Levant, but I quite like it.
Best wishes to all on this Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day! Just returned from a visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake and wish I'd been able to stay longer.
ReplyDeleteBelated thanks for the Canada Day wishes. I'm pleased you visited Niagara-on-the-Lake. After all these years, it still lies in Stratford's shadow - and I do love Stratford!
DeleteWhat next? Well, I always recommend Montreal (of course), but these last few years we've been exploring Quebec City and Nova Scotia. Annapolis Royal is a must, as is Lunenburg.
A happy Fourth of July to you!
